My Story
Hi, I’m Cyd G., founder of “House of Versa.”
Inspiration and excitement for my new brand come from a lifetime surrounded by creativity. From an early age, I was immersed in art, craft, and the discipline of classical ballet—also strengthened through participation in twirling and pageantry. Those experiences shaped my young life and artistic foundation. This eventually led to a professional career as a dancer, which evolved into an extraordinary chapter as a costume designer. Through years of hands-on work in theatre, dance, industrial shows and a countless variety of other performance art, I gained a unique understanding of how design, function, and beauty work together. And from the very beginning, I had the remarkable influence of my mother—affectionately known as “a living treasure chest of creative knowledge.” She made my costumes, gowns, and clothing growing up. (In fact, I even remember having school binder covers that matched my dresses!) This lifelong immersion in creativity, craftsmanship, and imaginative problem-solving now fuels the heart of the House of Versa—a brand focused on creating wardrobe systems that makes life easier and more beautiful.
Designing of the initial Versa Purse came after losing my father and becoming the primary caregiver for my mother, now 95-years-young. I had stepped away from my work as a costume designer and suddenly realized I hadn’t even changed my purse in over a year and a half. For someone who spent decades paying attention to every detail worn by performers, turning complex changes into effortless outfit coordination, managing quick changes and unwieldy backstage organization, that moment of realization said everything. So, I bought a purse insert, as a simple fix, but it didn’t fit any of my bags. That’s when it clicked, I’m a designer, I could create something better. What started as a practical solution became a renewed creative purpose, leading to the birth of the Versa Purse and the House of Versa.
